About

Jamie Michelle Waggoner is an artist and mystic. Her interests center around folk magic, mythology, oracular traditions, trance and ritual arts, and building sacred communities. She believes that magic is real, present all around us, and a profound tool for justice and transformation.

Jamie holds a B.A. in philosophy, trained and taught as a priestess with the Sisterhood of Avalon for thirteen years, and now regularly leads independent workshops and rituals across the United States and abroad. She is a co-founder and teacher for the Way of the Weaver program: an all-gender inclusive, nine-month journey of magical study and community building.

Lately Jamie has been greatly influenced by the principles of nonviolent resistance as taught by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., as well as the Poor People’s Campaign and the Death Positive movement. Some of her other spiritual influences include mythologists Drs. Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Sharon Blackie and Gwilym Morus-Baird, as well as the poetry of Mary Oliver, the tarot teachings of Rachel Pollack, and the paintings of Georgia O’Keeffe.

In addition to her public appearances, Jamie is also featured in the Red Tent documentary film (2012) and the Goddess on Earth project (2015). She makes her home in Alabama – the ancestral land of the Mvskoke (Muscogee) peoples – where she drinks in all of the languid beauty, tangled history and deep-rooted magic that is the American south.
